- This is running in 2005-2007 as a pilot vocational course. It is modular based and the first year we will be covering half of the compulsory core unit in Media Studies and the full optional unit in Film and Video Production. In the second year, we will complete the Media Studies unit and cover the full option unit in Web Authoring.
The course comprises:
Study of the languages used by audio-visual, print and ICT-based media to produce meaning.
Study of the relationships between people, places, events, ideas, values and beliefs and their representations in the media; and the issues and debates arising from their representations.
Study of the participants with roles in the production process, the institutions they represent and the processes of media production themselves.
Practical work as an essential part of Media Studies. The purpose of production work is for you to relate theory and practice, by demonstrating knowledge and understanding of technical skills in your own production.
Engaging in creative, imaginative activities that involve you directly in learning about decision-making and technical processes used in the media.
